Man Charged With Rape After Incident At Hotel In Orangeburg, Police Say

A 34-year-old area man was arrested for rape Thursday after turning himself into Orangetown Police detectives.

 Felix Francois of Spring Valley was charged with third-degree rape and sexual misconduct following an investigation into an incident that took place on Feb. 3 with a 20-year-old woman, said Orangetown Police Det. Sgt. James Sullivan.

The investigation began after the woman told police that she and a group of friends were staying at the Holiday Inn at 329 Route 303 in Orangeburg when a few of them, including Francois, decided to go out to a bar. 

The victim said that around 3 a.m. she returned to her hotel room in which Francois was also staying in along with two other people. 

The woman told officers that when she went to bed, Francois then got into bed with her and sexually assaulted her., Sullivan said.

Francois is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $30,000 bail.
